Avocado and Sour Cream (Crema)

Tacos, burritos and nachos are some of my favorite foods, but I think they need something other then just guacamole and salsa. I make a smoky mayo based sauce that is delicious and can be used, but the more creamy options we have the better! I've seen too many veganizied nachos looking dry AF! My BFF would call them thirst trap nachos! I've already posted a queso recipe, and here are 2 "cream" recipes. The sour cream is more like crema, which is thinner then sour cream, but has all the flavor. I loved sour cream before going vegan and really didn't know how to live without it, but I survived y'all!! These go great on chili and enchiladas too!

Avocado Cream

Serves: 3-4

Avocado and Sour Cream or Crema

Prep time:

Cook time:

Ingredients:
  • 1 avocado
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon or lime
  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp salt (start with 1/4 add more to taste)
  • 2-4 Tbsp almond milk (you can use water, but I like the almond milk creaminess)

Instructions:
  1. Add ingredients to a blender (I use a small blender, like an off brand magic bullet).
  2. Blend till smooth.
  3. Taste.
  4. Add more salt or almond milk if necessary.

Sour Cream

Serves: 3-4

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup plain mild tasting yogurt (almond or soy)
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon or lime
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:
  1. Combine in a small bowl and mix.
